I don't know if you have heard of hair restoration with lasers but there really seems to be a lot of controversy about whether they work or not. The problem of course is there has not been any proof that they do what they are supposed to do so you just have to take the manufacturers word for it. I don't really like doing that.
There are a few good places I have found that try to provide information to help a person make a logical decision about whether the technology even works or not. There has been some talk of how a person can use vitamins to regrow their hair. In reality vitamins will not really do much for people in the Western world because we really don't tend to have a problem with malnutrition. A person who is terribly deficient in vitamins can have hair loss but that is not the cause for most people in the US or Europe. Most of these people are suffering from Alopecia which is a genetically derived hair loss condition that actually causes the hair to stop growing. This is caused by a build up of DHT which is a byproduct of the male hormone testosterone. This build up chokes off the blood flow to the hair follicles which in turn cause them to stop manufacturing hair shaft material.
If you are serious about hair restoration you will need to deal with DHT and the blood supply to the hair roots.

I have found out some good information about hair loss in women. It seems that women usually have two problems when it come to hair loss instead of just one like men. When men have hair loss it is usually caused by male pattern baldness. This condition is very common in men as they age and it has been found to be genetically based. For years it was assumed that only the mother's side of the family made a difference when a person had hair loss because of this but now it has been shown that both parent's can play a role.
With women they not only have patchy baldness but we also experience hair thinning. This means that classic hair implantation methods don't work because there is no good donor area. This means hair restoration for women is even harder than for men.

I have been looking at hair loss treatments for several months and I have put together a lot of information on how to get hair growing again. As I said in the last post, I am mostly interested in finding out what works for women when it comes to regrowing hair. My mother has been losing her hair for a few years now and it is starting to get pretty thin. She even has some patches that are almost bald but not quite. I have taken it as a goal to find out what works and what doesn't so I can advise my Mom. She really hates the fact that she is having hair loss because it makes her feel old.
I tried to get her to buy a wig but she has something against them. For some reason she will not use and artificial hair piece as a way to cover up her hair loss. She grew up in a time when only snooty women wore wigs and she is not about to get one now.

Welcome to my new blog where I am going to explore the world of hair loss in women and the treatments that seem to do the best. If you are a woman and you either have bald spots or you have thinning hair then you are going to want to see what I have found out.
